AMDA Community Learning Centre is an extension project of AMDA Vocational Training Centre supported by the Government of Japan in the year of 2005. Throughout the years of interventions it has been realized that diversifying the life long education program in the community learning centre would ensure more community participation in the development process. Therefore, the community learning centre has become a focal point for the community people to come together, staying together and working together for their own development. The main objective is to promote Community Learning Centre to a knowledge centre for the community people specially targeting the adolescent group. AMDA Community Learning Centre has been playing a vital role to bring adolescent together in one platform through knowledge based education program for improving their family life. Different forums like adolescent forum, mother forum, farmers’ forum, fishermen forum, etc. are being formed to conduct social issue based group discussion, meeting and seminar. Each forum consist 15-20 members. There is a leader and assistant leader in each forum. Community learning centre carries out the following activities:
In Gazaria Upazila the number of adolescent is 50,000 (approx) which is one third of the total population. Their age is between 10 to 15 years. They are the part of future workforces of the nation. AMDA envisage helping them to be sound enough with the information, cultural and educational exchanging and awareness rising to develop himself or herself as a competent citizen of the country.
Up to 2009 it has organized knowledge dissemination sessions for 2500 adolescent and adult member of the community.
This is totally a subsidized project by Microcredi. There is no way to generate income from this kind of activities. It requires always some fund to organize workshop, seminars, learning sessions and publishing educational material including poster, brochure, leaflets, etc. for knowledge dissemination.
